«The “East Invest 2” annual conference was held on June 21, in Kyiv. About 120 representatives of companies that have business membership, business advocacy organizations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry from six Eastern Partnership countries and a number of European Union countries participated in the event.
Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, made a report on “Anti-Corruption Reforms in Armenia.” He presented the anti-corruption reforms undertaken by the ALA and the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenian, as well as by the Government of Armenia, specifically: the criminalization of illegal enrichment; the creation of an independent anti-corruption body; and introduction of the institute for the protection of whistleblowers’ rights in Armenia.
Mariam Zadoyan, expert of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia informed the participants of the Conference that on 7 July, the RA Law on Whistleblowing System was adopted. The law envisages the creation of an anonymous information platform in 2018. However, within the framework of the “Evidence-based Advocacy for Reform” project, Bizprotect.am website has already been created. This is platform to tackle any issues, risks and problems that hinder the business sector, including corruption. The website also provides opportunity to inform about a problem anonymously. Relevant steps are taken to verify the authenticity of these reports and to provide solutions.
