The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia published for public discussion the "The Draft RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan for its Implementation for 2019-2022 " on e-draft.am – the unified website for publication of legal acts drafts.
In an interview with Mediamax.am , anti-corruption expert Mariam Zadoyan stressed that though the draft provides for the implementation of the whistleblowers protection system as a result of latest legislative amendments, yet there are no mechanisms for incentives and guaranteeing effective protection.
At the same time, the expert noted the importance that the fight against corruption in the new strategy includes the private sector, because introduction of anti-corruption compliance programs are anticipated as a measure..
According to the expert, closer cooperation with civil society organizations is also important for the effective implementation of the strategy.
In addition, it is necessary to harmonise the strategy with Kuala Lumpur principles, which also includes the improvement of monitoring mechanisms.
