Anti-Corruption Compliance Program enables Transparent Environment

29.03.2019

Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry is implementing a training course series on “Amendments to the Tax Code and Anti-Corruption Compliance in Business” in the scope of the “Armenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms” Project implemented by the “Centre for International Private Enterprise”, the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO, the “Corporate Governance Centre” NGO and the “Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry” with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy.

Ms Lilit Mailyan, a participant of the training course from “Philip Morris Armenia” Limited Liability Company, in conversation with us mentioned that the anti-corruption compliance program has already been implemented by the organisation. She noted that the employees of the company are regularly informed about the anti-corruption themes and they are aware of the program. “The program gives an opportunity to create a transparent environment in which all businessmen will be convinced that if the anti-corruption compliance program is introduced in their organisation, their partners will follow those rules. As an international organisation, we are mainly dealing with foreign organisations that have already introduced an anti-corruption compliance program. We take this into account when choosing a partner, so they are paying attention to this too,”” Ms Lilit Mailyan said.

According to Ellada Sargsyan, representative of “Hamovik” Limited Liability Company, the course is profitable for the organisations. “The program was quite informative, and through questions and answers we got replies to our questions,” she said.

Notably, the course aims to increase the level of awareness on the changes in the tax Code and on implementation of the business code of conduct. Within the framework of the training, relevant information and free consultations will also be provided for further implementation of their own anti-corruption compliance program in companies.
