Recommendations on Anti-Corruption Compliance

As we had already informed, on April 17 and 18, the Government-Civil Society International Expert Conference: “RA Anti-Corruption Strategy under International Experience” was held in Yerevan.

The Conference was organised jointly by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, in the framework of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project supported by the European Union, and in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Centre for International Private Enterprises (CIPE).

The conference was aimed to present the international experience of the fight against corruption related to the law enforcement activities,  asset recovery, corruption prevention and anti-corruption education through the spectrum of the anti-corruption body, the whistleblowers’ system, beneficial owners the anti-corruption compliance.

The observations and findings of the conference have already been summarized and published, according to which it is recommended:

-       to the business sector: to develop steps to reduce corruption risks in business, in particular, to introduce anti-corruption compliance programs

-       Legislative and executive authorities: to introduce the institute for criminal prosecution of legal entities and to put in place effective mechanisms aimed at the adoption of anti-corruption compliance programs by the private sector, including to consider the existence of such programs in the business sector as a means of release of the legal entity from criminal liability.
