Do business organizations observe and evaluate corruption risks?
This question was asked to 188 organizations during the survey “The Role of Business in the Fight against Corruption: Armenian Reality” in September-December 2018.
The survey was conducted in the scope of the “Armenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms” Project implemented by the “Center for International Private Enterprise”, the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO, the “Corporate Governance Center” NGO and the “Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry” with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy.
63% of the respondents gave a positive answer to the question, but 67% also said that they had never rated their partners in terms of anti-corruption compliance. This raises doubts as to whether the partners’ or third party evaluation is an essential component for the assessment and management of of corruption risks. As for their evaluation by the partners, according to the survey results, only 20% of the respondents were satisfied; while the overwhelming majority gave a negative answer.
