Iravaban.net has already informed the public that a number of activities are exempted from paying taxes. The information published on 19 January, in the scope of the “Evidence-Based Advocacy for Reform” project has had stormy reaction.
Advocate of the project Miss Nariam Zadoyan in the interview with Iravaban.net said that since 16 December 2016, the law providing tax privileges to the self-employed persons was adopted. The mentioned law entered into force on 1 January 2017.
“I learned about this law from the hotline of the tax service after asking pretty scrutiny, questions. Now the problem is that the tax authorities are not informing about this privilege those taxpayers to which the privilege applies. After publication of our information we receive many calls from individual entrepreneurs saying that the tax authorities did not inform the individuals subject to the law, who had paid license e fees for up to 1 year (these fees sometime totaled to 100000 AMD), as well as those entrepreneurs who have applied for paying the tax according to this year’s turnover tax regime.”
According to Mariam Zadoyan, sometimes even the tax authorities do not possess the provisions of the law provided incorrect information to the individual entrepreneurs that are subject to the law noting that the latter should cease the activities as sole entrepreneurs so that they would be entitled to make use of the privilege.
The advocate also noted that the tax service hotline told that if the individual entrepreneurs had applied to work in the regime of the “turnover tax” so they it can no longer enjoy the tax privileges of self-employed persons this year.
In fact, this law is already in force for 20 days, but the public is not informed about it. Whereas Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, when the legislative package was presented at the government session stressed the issue of informing the interested persons.
