BizProtect continues to receive alerts on the economic damage caused by the coronavirus-induced restriction.
On 6 July, a letter against the head of Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district Karen Hakobyan was received from Hasmik Barkhudaryan, the director of "Aries Lunch" LLC.
The letter reads:
"In March of this year, the RA National Assembly made a decision on introducing a state of emergency in Armenia. The activity of public catering businesses was banned from 16 March, it was allowed again from 15 May of this year. As representatives of the most affected sphere, for which the RA Government is constantly trying to make some programs, we are deeply surprised by the position of the district administration: they call and demand, issue invoices for local taxes and advertising for the period that we did not work, as it was prohibited by law. And the reasoning is that there is no provision in the law that the company may be exempted from taxes for the period when the activity is prohibited by the State. In other words, the district administration is required to pay the local fees for food and advertising for the months when the government had banned us from working. Such actions are illogical, illegal, and harm the policy pursued by the Government. I would like to inform additionally that we have no problem paying for the months when our activity was not banned. Please raise this issue, give a solution."
It should be noted that the BizProtect submitted letters to the head of the administrative district, and the mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan
